Orbit® 51059 Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker
3/4" Brass
SKU : OP-51059
The Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker is designed to prevent contaminants from entering the main water supply through sprinkler heads. It is not designed to be used as a mainline anti-siphon device.
The Dual Check Valves provide cost-effective backflow protection of the public water supply. This model can be installed in a variety of piping configurations, and in conjunction with a wide range of meter horns, copper setters, and meter boxes.
The straight line, poppet-type construction of this model minimizes pressure drop and provides smooth flow characteristics. It can be installed horizontally or vertically. It is not adversely affected by normal line pressure surges, will not cause water hammer, and operates without chatter or vibration. Maximum Working Pressure: 150psi (10.3 bar).
This 3/4 by 3/4 IN lead free dual check valve backflow preventer helps prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the drinking water supply at the service entrance or at individual outlets. The valve consists of a lead free brass body construction, with two plastic replaceable check valves, and stainless steel springs. It is designed for non-health hazard residential water system containment, continuous pressure applications and is to be installed immediately downstream of the residential water meter, in a vertical or horizontal position. The minimum working pressure is 10 psi (69 kPa) and maximum working pressure is 175 psi (12 bar).

WARNING! Irrigation systems supplied by domestic or private potable water systems are considered to be a potential pollution hazard to the water supply. These systems must include protection to prevent possible backflow of irrigation water into the potable water supply.
Federal law requires a proper backflow device to be installed on any watering system to prevent contamination of the supply; whether it be pump or city water. Check your local water authority for installation requirements & codes. In many rural areas; specific requirements for landscape irrigation systems may not be covered in local plumbing codes and/or enforcement may be limited. HOWEVER...limitation in local authority does not alter the basic requirement for protection of the potable water supply.
